Where’d You Go?

First it was the lil kiddo who’d came down with diarhoea, then weeks after it was the mummy’s turn whom’d came down with a nasty high fever. Ahh!! How nasty can that be?

And so that explains why I’m not been updating this blog for quite sometime now.

The latest update…my baby’s all up and kicking back to her active self. (*phew! Thank God for that for you know how babies can be cranky when they’re sick and worst still will make the mummy panicked and worrying too much.)

As for the mummy, well let’s just say she’s not 100% recovered from the high fever. yet.

Ahh time for medications. I’ll promise that I’ll be back the soonest. I hope .

My Best Friend’s Wedding…

It’s been truly yet another tremendous & very much overwhelming weekend for me with the most anticipated event of the month, that is the wedding of my (our)best Squad team dudette, Raihanah.

14th of July marked as a very memorable and special day not just for Rai, but also for another blogger friend of mine whose also my ex primary and secondary schoolmate Wahidah, affectionately known with her blogger name Idasie whom had her wedding solemnization on the same day as Rai.

At about 3.15p.m the groom’s entourage arrived at Rai’s home for the customary “akad nikah” or the solemnization ceremony of the couple. Before the arrival of Kadi Hassan for the “ijab kabul”, a representative from the groom’s side initiate the opening ceremony by having the recitations of the “doas” for good blessings of the whole ceremony.

After the solemnization ceremony ended, more phototakings of the wedded couple and guests were taken and the groom’s entourage were led to the void deck of blk 235 Tampines st 21, for a small evening reception. The couple made an appearance in front of all invited guests and joined in together for the reception before summing up the Saturday’s ceremony.

At around 6.30p.m the Squad team dismissed from Rai’s place, and then I’d made my way down to the other side of Tampines blk 806, which was Idasie’s place, where her wedding function took place.  i wouldn’t be able to attend Idasie’s wedding lunch reception which was on Sunday 15th the next day, as it clashes with Rai’s and that the Squammies will be escorting Rai to her groom’s place which was in Kallang. I thought that it was only a kind gesture to visit Idasie to repay her kind invitation for me to attend her wedding and congratulate her personally. And true enough my good intentions of visiting her paid off, as I’d still able to see her as well as her husband in the traditional songket “Malaccan” wedding costume for their phototaking on the dais. (alhamdullilah! I’d always wanted to meet up close with her especially when she’s wearing a bridal outfit!)

In actual fact, the visit to Idasie’s place summed up my whole Saturday. By the time I’d reached home, I was feeling all happy and glad that my 2 favourite sweeties finally had their wedding solemnization ceremonies went on smoothly without any glitches. Ouh well before going off to sleep that night, I’d made some own preparations for Sunday, which will be Rai’s wedding highlight for the whole weekend…

At exactly 3.30p.m, the Squad Team joined together the kompang and the groom’s entourage back to the groom’s wedding function at Jalan Batu, Kallang. The couple were chauffered to the groom’s place in a luxurious silver Chrysller wedding car. The couple made an arrival in front of the groom’s invited guests before changing into their last wedding outfit and have their photo-taking session to sum up Sunday’s function.

More of their wedding photos will be uploaded pretty soon.

At the time you’re reading this blog entry of mine, the wedded couple have embark on their 4 days of honeymooning on the mystical island of Bali.

I wanna end this entry by once again congratulating both couples, Raihanah & Sharil, Wahidah (Idasie) & Norisham(De). My very best wishes goes out to all of them and may Allah blessed their marriage always :)

And with that I wanna also end up this entry with a malay pantun (hahaha..ok i’m trying hard peeps) here goes….

Ikan di laut asam di darat
Dalam kuali bertemu jua
Hati terpaut janji diikat
Atas pelamin bertemu jua

Ayam dara di buat gulai
Bungkus bekalan letak di bucu
Riang gembira kedua mempelai
Semoga berkekalan keanak cucu….

Of World Class Transport System & Taxi Drivers from Hell…

I read an article in The New Paper, which made the cover story yesterday. It was about a couple whom had boarded the cab and was on the way home for the guy to send off her girlfriend home in Bukit Batok, when suddenly without any warning, the cab’s door opened automatically and he got flung out of the moving cab onto the middle of the road.

It was not about the accident which had happened to the guy but apparently the main storyline was about how irresponsible the cab driver was by not stopping his cab to help the victim, it was only after the victim’s girlfriend panicked and alerted the driver that he stopped his cab some 20 metres away. The victim’s girlfriend rushed over to help him up and before the both of them could react, the cab moved off, cutting across 3 lanes before going out of sight after turning into a slip road.

Reading that article, I felt utterly disgusted. So ok, be it that it was also the victim’s fault for not wearing the passenger’s seatbelt, but for the cab driver to potray that kind of very irresponsible attitude, I personally think that our country’s service standards of a world class transport system is still far from being the BEST.

I have my very own unpleasant experience too recently with a similar kind of  very bad attitude by a taxi driver that even now as I’m blogging this, I really felt like strangling the cab driver hard and kicked his ass off.

Just last Saturday, I had to buy some urgent things from a pharmacy for my grandma. It was already around 9.40p.m and mostly most pharmacies have closed down by then. the only idea I had in my mind was to get my way down to Mustaffa Centre to get the stuffs. When all the shopping was done, I had 2 big heavy plastic bags to get home with. I’d decided to hail down a cab to send the stuffs as my Mum needed it urgently. That’s  when I’d also decided to wait for a cab at the back entrance of the shopping centre near the small road facing the prata makan place. I’d seen quite  number of cabs which either have its windscreen displayed that it was “On Call”, “Woodlands”, “Tampines” signs, and so I didn’t bother myself to hail down those taxis. And then I saw this “Union” taxi which showed the illuminated green sign indicating that the taxi’s not having any passengers, and so I hailed it down. The driver stopped abruptly, rolled down his windscreen and when I’d told him that I wanted to get to Eunos, he replied back in a harsh tone and waving his hand disapprovingly saying that he only ferries passengers going to Woodlands and without even  futher waiting,  the driver just drove off. Okie fine, that was it, i’m not going top wait for a taxi at this place, my mind told me. I then headed off to the main road and then I saw a taxi stand. Phew! I’m safe! Well at least that’s what I’d thought before the hell happened. The taxi stand was even worst! The crowd was growing but the number of taxis coming in to take passengers was almost none! Ok..Ok there was only around 2 that took up passengers from the taxi stand. This is surely NUTS man!

I’d waited close to about half and hour and then I gave up and decided to just dial-a-cab. i was about to walk to the side of the road and I’d noticed a line of about unoccupied taxis by the side of the road. I’d hurried to the 1st taxi, a yellow  cab with a driver in his late 30’s. The taxi had his green light illuminating and I didnt see any other signs (“On Call”, “Woodlands”, “Tampines” whatever crap signs they can ever think of), and i could see the driver was ready to accept passengers. I was WRONG. I went up close to his driver’s windscreen and waved at him but he just kept mummed without even looking at me! I then knocked lightly on his windscreen and only that he rolled down his windscreen. I then told him that I wanted to get to Eunos and the next thing which happened stunned me almost at an instant.

“Haiyah!!! I don’t go Eunos arr. I only take passengers to CITY !” he replied in a harshly high toned manner.

I was not satisfied and then I’d asked him back in a calm but firm manner… “Hello Uncle, but I don’t see any signs saying that you’re going to the CITY except for the “green light” (*pointing my hand to the top of his taxi) and there’s not even an “On Call” sign.

At this point the driver heaved a huge deep rude sigh as he bent down to his legs to get hold of the “On Call” sign he kept below his legs. Truthfully, i was already raging with madness when he showed that “On Call” sign to my face. So the driver thought that I was some small intimidated passenger girl that he could easily fool with and to top that I was only alone at that moment of time.

The next moment I was having a heated argument with the driver and the corner of my eyes says that all the Banglas and the Indians nearby are all looking at us. The driver still refused to take me to my Eunos home. Some vulgarities were even exchanged. The taxi driver thought that i could’nt understand the Chinese vulgarities he uttered but I was fast catching him and I’d warned him that this is not the way to treat a customer.

I’d then purposely stood in front of his taxi, took out my hp to take down and store the taxi plate number. The taxi driver was still inside and continued to hurl abusive languages and hand signs. I’d then stomped out of the way and i shouted back at him.. “You’re asking for it!!”

I’d walked away and that’s when I saw the other taxi driver earlier whom’d told me he only ferries passengers to Woodlands, and I saw him showing his fingers the number “3″ and his voice blurted out a not so loud but clear “30 dollars!” to an elderly Indian couple, whom I believed were tourists who wants to get back to their hotels after their shopping at Mustaffa’s. Now I got the picture…those taxi’s by the side of that road were actually “touting”. The driver didn’t see me but I’d managed to take down the taxi license plate number as well.

In fact I was so utterly disgusted by their behaviour, made myself clear by reporting about that incident to the relevant authorities the very next day. My complains were still pending investigations. I really hoped that those 2 bastards get fined up and have their taxi licenses revoked. Complete assholes.

Our public transportation fares will continue to hike up in the near future and if this is the kind of service and attitudes we are still getting, I believe our country will never get even close to the top 10 ranking of of excellent customer service.

Especially if we let those kind of bastards roamed our roads around freely, having their own selfish interests, They will put up Singapore with a very bad image.

July’s Finally Here!!

The month which i’m anticipated for is finally here.

1st there was the “free” money from our government for the GST Offset Package (ok,  though not much but still at least there’s something rather than nothing), the official announcement and advancement of my responsibilities in the jobscope that i’ll be in-charge of cum this mid-month and of course the many joyous wedding occassions of my good friends which i’m invited to.

Yesterday I had to make my time to fulfill 3 wedding invitations. The 1st wedding that I’d attended to was at Blk 159 Tampines St 12, the wedding reception of my ex-poly mate/my poly CCA, favourite SNT ”tarian” kaki, Rozianah a.k.a Rowzee.

With my lovely ladies

Indeed it was also a very pleasant meet up between me and the rest of the former SNT gals. We’d sat and chatted over the wedding lunch reception about our good old “tarian” days back in TP. It’s really nice to see that even though we’d barely even meet up eversince our last day at school, the “togetherness” among all of us can still be seen by the activeness of our endless bubbly and humourous conversations.

I had to rush for time to the other 2 wedding receptions. After Rowzee’s place, the next destination was Pasir Ris for the wedding of my childhood neighbourhood friend Sulastri, whose entire family I’ve known for so long that even our Mums are even good friends. Finally was the wedding of my secondary school classmate Norwati at Rivervale, Sengkang. Sadly, I didn’t manage to take photographs at these 2 remaining wedding receptions. It was already late as both the brides at these 2 locations had already left to go “bertandang” to their respective grooms side.

Anyway my very best wishes goes out to the 3 ladies. My prayers for them of a blissful and a happy marriage life to eternity.

Up next in 4 more days *gasps*, the wedding event of the year. Yes! It’s gonna be my much beloved Squammie best sista’s wedding… Raihanah!!!! Weeeeee!!!!!!!!!

And of course not forgetting it’s also my former secondary schoolmate Idasie’s wedding on the same day!

Now I have to agree with Ain…I have to split myself into half for that day ;p Lol.

Meanwhile, stay tune for more of their respective wedding coverages!
